Knox grammar apologises to abuse victims” families for “charity”

A prominent Kent pastor has apologisnatyasastra.comed for «the emotional pain of this whole mess» and called on churches to accept the fact they were involved in wrong-doing.

Peter Sartain, Bishop of Lewes, wrote a letter to the families of victims of abuse within the church after they lodged allegations of sexual abuse.

It included a letter from former bishop Sir Philip Winterfield that said that in his 18 years as bishop, the church did not take any action against anyone at the Church of바카라 England about abuse.

A police investigation into the allegations against the church had concluded in 2015.

“Un바카라precedented” reaction

Speaking about his apology in an interview with the BBC in 2015, Mr Sartain said: «It is almost unprecedented in my whole life for any leader or congregation to admit their own fault.

«I know for a fact that most people will be pleased but it is not what I want for this church to be known.

«I was in charge of dealing with the child abuse of our church for several years before Sir Philip. I was told not to touch this abuse but I was the one who let it happen.»

“Unprecedented” response

The police investigation into the claims into the church led to one priest being suspended and another being placed under investigation for indecently abusing children during a church service in 2009.

The Church of England (CoE) acknowledged that the letter from Sir Philip was «very upsetting to my wife and I» but said it was a «private matter for the members of staff involved».

The church will not be naming the pastor involved in writing the apology because he is now a member of a UK bishop’s family group.

The letter in full

«I take no credit nor creditable for the abuse I have caused, but the abuse that I have committed is nothing like that you mention.

«There were abuse cases here in the UK for which no-one in our organisation ever received any formal sanction.

«In no case and in no way did anyone involved ever receive the formal sanction that the CoE should give to those who have broken the law – even with apologies.»
